Where Matchups Do Matter: Playoff Schedule
Weeks 15–17 matchup quality. Most best ball formats have playoff rounds in weeks 15–17 (or similar). The points scored in those specific weeks determine who advances and who wins the championship. Players with favorable matchups in those specific weeks have a higher probability of producing in the rounds that matter. Checking the late-season schedule of star players at draft time helps identify who will face weak defenses during the playoff stretch.
ADP undervalued late-schedule players. When two players of similar overall season projection have different late-season schedules — one faces three bottom-five defenses in weeks 15–17 while the other faces three top-five defenses — the player with the favorable late-season schedule is more valuable in best ball even at the same ADP. If the market has not priced in this late-season advantage, the player with the favorable playoff schedule is an undervalued target.
