The core passing game stack unit: the foundational passing game stack in best ball is a QB paired with at least one of his primary WRs. This two-player minimum captures the basic QB-WR correlation: when the QB has a big passing day, the primary WR typically accumulates the targets and yards that translate into fantasy points. Extended Stack Structures

QB-WR1-WR2 stack. An extended passing game stack adds the second WR from the same QB’s team. A roster construction approach that many best ball analysts favor is a primary QB stack (QB plus his top WR) plus a separate secondary QB stack (backup QB plus one of his WRs). This two-stack structure captures correlation from two different passing games simultaneously — when Game A passes for 400 yards, the first stack benefits; when Game B passes for 350 yards in a different week, the second stack benefits. The two-stack approach distributes the correlation benefit across different weeks rather than concentrating it entirely in one game.


Stack Partner Selection

Matching stack partner to QB style. Not all QBs distribute targets equally to their WR1 and WR2. Some QBs concentrate 40-plus percent of their targets in a single WR (making WR1 the primary stack partner); others distribute more evenly with WR1 and WR2 each receiving 20–25% of targets (making a three-player QB-WR1-WR2 stack more efficient).
