Prize Types That Drive Engagement
Weekly High Score — Best engagement-per-dollar prize available. Every manager in last place still has a reason to set their optimal lineup each week. Allocate 15–20% of pool.
Regular Season Champion — Rewards the manager with the best record or most total points across the regular season. Stops managers from tanking once eliminated. Allocate 8–10%.
Last Place Punishment — A social consequence (mow the champion’s lawn, wear a rival jersey, perform a voted-on task) rather than a financial prize. Keeps bottom-half managers trying to avoid last. Establish the punishment before the season — agreed by all managers.
Dynasty Rolling Prize — Part of the pool flows into a growing fund. A manager who wins back-to-back (or achieves a specified multi-year goal) claims the accumulated pool. Creates long-term commitment to the dynasty league.
Payment Logistics Checklist
- Set the buy-in amount and announce at the annual meeting
- Require payment before the draft — no draft access until paid
