Knowing your opponent’s type in dynasty trades is like reading a poker player. A contender desperate to win this year is willing to overpay for veteran production. A rebuilder with no playoff hope will trade veterans for picks. A hoarder will not trade anything regardless of value.

The Main Dynasty Manager Types
The Rebuilder. A manager whose team is in a full rebuild — young players, lots of picks, no immediate contention window. Rebuilders sell veteran production for draft capital. They are willing to trade players entering their age-27–28 seasons for first-round picks. Target them if you want veterans; sell them future picks in exchange for current value.
The Contender. A manager with a championship window right now. Contenders are willing to sell future draft capital for current win-now help. They often overpay for established veterans. If you own young players with value but your team is rebuilding, trade them to the contender for picks.
The Hoarder. A manager who never trades. They hold all their players regardless of market value. Hoarders rarely get better deals than the consensus — they simply age their roster until it declines. Avoid trying to negotiate with extreme hoarders; move on.
The Misevaluator. A manager whose perception of player value is consistently off. They may demand too much for underperforming veterans or sell elite young players too cheaply. These are your best trading partners if you can identify where their valuation is misaligned.
