Why early WR1 identification creates dynasty value: a WR who is identified as a future WR1 before the rest of the dynasty market prices them correctly can be acquired at WR2 or WR3 prices — the gap between a WR2 acquisition price and a WR1 production output is where dynasty fortunes are built. College-to-dynasty WR1 predictor hierarchy: (1) dominator rating (targets + yards above 20% of team total) — WRs who dominated their college offense at a volume level above their draft class are more likely to dominate NFL target shares than WRs who were complementary players in a deep receiver corps; (2) market share of college team’s targets — a WR who commanded 30%+ of their college team’s targets is demonstrating that the offense centers around them, which is the most direct college predictor of NFL featured-WR status; (3) yards per route run in college — efficiency on a per-route basis controls for offensive scheme and target allocation; high yards per route (2.0+) in college signals production efficiency that translates; and (4) age-adjusted production — a WR who produced at high volume at age 20 in college (earlier than peers) has a longer development runway and shows faster-than-peer talent maturation.
