Understanding Field Goal Percentage: How Kicker Efficiency Affects Fantasy DST and Kicker Value

Why field goal percentage matters for two different fantasy positions: the kicker position is almost entirely driven by two variables — how many field goal attempts they get (volume) and how many they make (efficiency). Field goal percentage captures the efficiency half. For DSTs, the metric matters in reverse — a strong DST that holds opponents to field goals rather than touchdowns is suppressing the opposing kicker’s fantasy value while maintaining their own defensive point totals.
