Fantasy Football Weekly Archive: How To Save the Useful Stuff From Each Week
A fantasy football weekly archive is what you distill from a finished season and carry into the next one. Your in-season log recorded every close call as it happened; the archive is the offseason pass where you keep only the lessons that will still be true next August and throw the week-to-week noise away.
A weekly archive is your season’s log boiled down to the handful of lessons worth drafting on next year.
The difference is timing and intent. A log is written under time pressure during the season and is allowed to be messy. An archive is written calmly after the season, read cold months later, and must survive that cold read. If a saved lesson won’t change a real decision next year, it does not belong in the archive.
What Gets Preserved

Notice the archive is organized by theme, not by week. The log was chronological; the archive is thematic, because next year you won’t ask “what happened in Week 5,” you’ll ask “how should I handle byes.”
Worked Example: The August Reread
It’s late August, redraft season. Before your draft you reopen last year’s weekly archive and read the “Bye-week planning” line: you got caught short at RB and it cost two weeks. So this year you plan bench depth around your starters’ byes before the draft even starts. One preserved lesson quietly fixed a recurring mistake.
Common mistake: Archiving the raw weekly log verbatim. A wall of chronological entries is unreadable in August, so you skip it and repeat last year’s errors. The archive only works if you’ve already done the distillation — themes and takeaways, not a transcript.
The takeaway: the log captures the season as it happens; the archive keeps only what transfers to the next one. Distill, don’t copy.
