Day-by-Day Detail
Monday (post-game review)
After Monday Night Football ends, your week officially closes. Check your final score, note who underperformed or got injured during Sunday/Monday games, and begin thinking about waiver targets.
Tuesday (waiver wire planning)
Most leagues process waiver claims Wednesday. Tuesday is your window to prepare: identify newly valuable players based on weekend performance, check fresh injury reports, rank your waiver priorities. In FAAB leagues, decide your bid amounts.
Submit claims before the platform cutoff — typically Tuesday night or Wednesday morning depending on your league settings.
Wednesday (waivers process)
Claims resolve Wednesday. Confirm which players you got and finalize who to drop for roster space.
Thursday (the critical lock)
The single most common lineup mistake in fantasy: forgetting Thursday Night Football. Any player on a TNF team is locked at kickoff. Check your lineup before 8 PM ET every Thursday — don’t wait until the game starts.
Friday–Saturday (injury monitoring)
Initial injury designations (questionable, doubtful, out) trickle in Friday and Saturday. The official injury report for Sunday games releases Saturday. Identify starters who are questionable and start thinking about backups.
Sunday morning (the most important two hours)
Final injury designations release roughly 90 minutes before the 1 PM ET kickoff. This is when you set your final lineup.
What to confirm:
- All “out” players are replaced
- Questionable players have been decided (check active/inactive list when it drops ~75 min before kickoff)
- No one is playing in a game that already kicked off (TNF players, international games)
Goal: lineup locked before 1 PM ET. Don’t cut it close — network or app issues have cost managers playoff games.
Sunday night / Monday
Players in the Sunday Night Football game (8:15 PM ET) and Monday Night Football (8:15 PM ET) can be swapped until their game locks. If your matchup is close and you have MNF starters, pay attention.
4 Common Weekly Mistakes
1. Forgetting Thursday night locks. The most frequent error. Set a weekly phone alarm for Thursday at 7:45 PM ET.
2. Not checking injury reports Sunday morning. The Saturday night injury report isn’t final — active/inactive designations finalize 90 minutes before 1 PM ET Sunday. Always check again Sunday morning.
3. Missing waiver wire windows. Valuable free agents hit the wire after Sunday games. If you check Monday morning instead of Monday night, you’re already behind other managers who acted immediately.
4. Over-managing during games. You can’t change anything once games start. Set your lineup, then watch the games.
Setting Automatic Reminders
Most platforms (ESPN, Yahoo, Sleeper) have push notifications for lineup locks, injury updates, and waiver wire processing. Turn these on — they’re the easiest habit to build into the workflow.
