24-Hour Post-NFL-Draft Action Checklist
This is the highest-value window of the dynasty offseason. Work through these immediately after the draft:
Day 1 (Saturday of the NFL draft weekend):

- Recalibrate your Tier 1 and Tier 2 prospect rankings with landing spot context

Within the week:
- Make the trades you’ve identified before the market settles (7–14 days post-draft)
- Sell overvalued consensus picks at peak excitement prices
- Buy undervalued prospects who landed in situations you rate higher than consensus
Pre-Draft Preparation (4–6 Weeks Before the NFL Draft)
Build your prospect tiers: Use dynasty-specific sources (KTC, FantasyCalc, The Dynasty Nerds) as a baseline. Add your own research from NFL draft scouting reports (The Athletic, ESPN, The Draft Network). Know your position priorities:
- WR: Deepest position in dynasty rookie drafts — value is available across all rounds
- RB: Most landing-spot dependent — raw talent matters less than opportunity
- TE: Longest development curve — build in a 2-year patience premium
- QB: Only urgent in Superflex leagues; treat as secondary in single-QB

Focus your mapping on the 10–15 teams most likely to draft in the rounds where your dynasty picks fall.
Post-Draft Tiered Rankings
After all 7 rounds with landing spot context:
Tier 1: Elite prospect profile + favorable landing spot. Dynasty rookie round 1 value regardless of NFL round taken.
Tier 2: Strong prospect profile with one question mark (landing spot uncertainty, or late NFL draft position). Round 2 dynasty value.
Tier 3: Situational — dynasty value entirely dependent on one variable (veteran incumbent retiring, QB upgrade, etc.). Round 3 or deeper.
Tier 4+: Developmental stashes — strong physical upside, no near-term fantasy relevance. Round 4+ only.
4 Common Mistakes in NFL Draft Evaluation for Dynasty
1. Over-weighting NFL draft capital. A Day 2 pick in a perfect landing spot regularly outperforms a Round 1 pick in a crowded offense. Position in the NFL draft correlates with opportunity but doesn’t determine it.
2. Not updating rankings after the draft. Pre-draft dynasty rankings are built without landing spot information. They should be completely rebuilt after the NFL draft ends. Carrying pre-draft values into your rookie draft is one of the most expensive mistakes in dynasty.
3. Ignoring non-skill position picks. OL upgrades make every RB and QB on that offense more valuable. A team that drafts a franchise LT in Round 1 just changed the value of their backfield — track OL picks too.
4. Overpaying in the dynasty rookie draft. The dynasty trade market is hottest in the 24–48 hours after the NFL draft. Dynasty managers overpay for rookies at peak excitement. If you’re selling picks in rookie drafts, sell immediately after the NFL draft — if you’re buying, wait 2–3 weeks for enthusiasm to cool.
