Suppose a downfield receiver keeps earning air yards but catches fewer passes than expected. If the quarterback is inaccurate on deep throws, the receiver’s low catch rate may say more about ball placement than route quality. That player is volatile unless the quarterback improves or the offense creates easier targets.
