Why team passing volume matters more in best ball than in head-to-head: in head-to-head fantasy, a player’s weekly matchup often determines whether they score enough to win that week’s game. In best ball, the optimal lineup counts every good week — which means a WR on a high-volume passing team produces more frequent high-scoring weeks across a 17-game season than a WR on a low-volume team, even if their per-target efficiency is identical. Best ball rewards volume-based accumulation: more passing attempts per game = more target opportunities = more weeks where the WR contributes to the optimal lineup.

How to Build Passing Volume Into Draft Prep

Passing attempts and offensive pace are related but not identical: (1) high-pace offenses (fast play clocks, up-tempo scripts) generate more total plays per game, which can increase passing attempts; (2) possession-heavy offenses may pass on 55% of plays but run extended drives that reduce total snaps per game; (3) both passing attempts per game and plays per game are useful metrics — passing attempts is more directly fantasy-predictive; total plays per game is a secondary indicator of opportunity.
