The limits of schedule analysis:
The limits: (1) defensive quality changes mid-season through injuries and coaching adjustments; the schedule projected in the offseason may look different by week 10 when injured starters have been replaced and coordinators have made adjustments; (2) game environment overrides schedule: a team with a favorable schedule that consistently plays in cold, windy outdoor conditions may not capture the expected offensive production boost even against weak defenses; environment and scheme matter as much as opponent quality; (3) the schedule regression: every WR who plays an easy schedule in the first 8 weeks eventually faces tougher defenses in the second half; the full-season schedule advantage rarely exceeds 10%; don’t over-weight schedule in close talent comparisons.
